Week 6: Hammer
I was always intrigued by Dad's impressive display of tools on his work bench in our garage. Everything you could possibly need was at your fintertips from nails and screws in different sizes all in glass jars that screwed to the underside of a shelf, to saws, screwdrivers, wrenches and hammers. I could build almost anything my childish heart desired or imagined. And I often did!
My favorite tools were the ones with my Dad's name engraved on them, especially one heavy and very much used hammer. I thought that was really special to have your name on things like that. No other kids I knew had their father's names on their tools. I always thought that they must have been made special for my Dad, and that's why he had his name on them!
It wasn't until I was in high school that I discovered "STANLEY" was just a brand name of tools.
