Our groundhog failed to see his shadow last week…
The next day, my Love plucked the first flower, handing me a beautiful dandelion. My heart surged with love at this dainty gesture.
Evidence of Spring’s emerald green appear amidst Winter’s golden grasses. Iris, tulip and hyacinth poking through the sod, waking up - encouraged by the warming sun.
Budwood is set — soon the branches will redden up as sap rises.
Sap is life to trees. Sap is rising.
Maple trees are being lovingly tapped of their essence. Filling little buckets or bags, they whisper the promise of their gift - maple syrup.
Birds grazing across our lawn find tasty morsels.
Two pair of Canada geese have returned to the nearby pond. There were four, plus their fledgelings that flew south for the winter last fall. It’s still early — mayhaps the others have yet to arrive or they were across the road in the jumble of limestone, trees, and water course, that was once a quarry, now a nature preserve.
Our returning family of six starlings descended upon the suet feeder. Fighting off the woodpecker and sparrow, who patiently wait their turn. They share without fighting. Not so, the squabbling starlings, who first shoo off the competition then turn on each other to see who can eat the most.
People no longer bundled up against Winter’s bitter cold, have changed attire for more outdoor activities…
… Raking and clearing off old leaf mulch… …Walking dogs…
…Planting and plotting gardens… …Visiting neighbors…
…Playing… …Grilling Dinner…
Daylight increasing, temperatures warming…
More rain — less snow…
Gaia’s energies enliven us all
With the Arousal of Spring.
