Week 6: Hammer

I was always intrigued by Dad's impressive display of tools on his work bench in our garage. Everything you could possibly need was at your fintertips from nails and screws in different sizes all in glass jars that screwed to the underside of a shelf, to saws, screwdrivers, wrenches and hammers. I could build almost anything my childish heart desired or imagined. And I often did!

Week 3: Brick

Three doors down, on the corner, lived "the Major", a retired WWII Veteran. From the day he moved in, he bricked over every bit of ground on his property and planted low maintenance shrubbery.

The Three Gulls loved to walk on the brick outer wall - it was just wide enough for our bare feet to pretend we were walking a tightrope in a circus.

We dreaded hearing him yell at us, "GET OFF MY BRICK!!"

Not unlike Clint Eastwood's "Get off my lawn!" only, thankfully, no shot gun was involved.
